stuck in a moment

I know its a poor quality video

Well today was a long day after so many short days.

Early in the morning after the gym,my friend called and wanted me to come with him – he was going for his ACCA docket thingy and then he wanted to go to our school and meet some teachers.  Well thats how i got a chance to make this video.

it starts from the karsaz overhead bridge and goes to the EOBI house (formerly Awami Markaz). This whole area had been traffic jammed. We were midway the karsaz bridge (joining shahrah-e-faisal) and my friend dropped the cars speed.Since i was with my cellphone i inquired abt the car and simultaneously i put my head up and LO! n behold! half of the bridge is traffic jammed.

The traffic jam continued and we both were of the opinion that the traffic jam is due to an accident and thats when i pulled out my cellphone camera and started making the video hoping that i would catch a heated up situation in moments. But everything seemed to be fine and as soon as we crossed the EOBI house (formerly Awami Markaz)  area the traffic was all of sudden in smooth flow : |….

…it was the traffic signal. The traffic police was controlling the traffic at the signal near Crown plaza.

so y can’t we have traffic signals up and running 24hrs a day. why do the police has to interfere? and if its the load shedding issue den at this time the electricity not down, there must have a fault in the signal. and secondly y can’t the traffic signals and street lights be granted exclusion from load shedding?

at the end of the day we have Bono

And if the night runs over
And if the day won’t last
And if your way should falter
Along the stony pass
It’s just a moment
This time will pass

P.S: wasn’t the weather really pleasant in the morning!?

Tired of doing nothing for the last 2-3 months I had started browsing through various websites of my interest and not of my interest and in the course i found the karachi city’s website. As usual the first thought that occured was that the website has been uploaded and is rarely updated: guess i was wrong.

I browsed through the website, visited various towns’ dedicated websites and then one day i discovered this complaint center thing there. I immediately logged a complaint against the unclean road right outside my house. Later on i forgot about it and on the third day i had a city government fellow on my doorstep with a print out of my complaint. I was taken aback with quick response in contrast to my idea of the website been left unattended. Anyhow, i explained the complaint and the guy told me that evrything would be taken care of on the next working day.

Now is this improvement in the system or is this improvement in the system?

Oh n before i end my post lemme mention that nothing is taken care of. Maybe thats because the complaint center guy asked me to sign the print-out he had, i should have told him that i will sign it when the work is done. Anyway, atleast they did show up.

Benazir n Karachi

19_10_2007_001_002_012.jpgSince after the 12th MAY incident Karachi has been pretty peaceful. But now we have Benazir in the city and the revival of PPP. 18th October Benazir lands in karachi and wht she brings with her is 100+ deaths and 400+ injuries and just a few minutes back we had PPP people on their motorcycles terrorising the shopkeepers to shut their shops. Agreed that its supposed to be 3 day grief but isn’t it a job of the government to take care of this?

What have we got in store is yet to be unveiled

Coin Collection

Posted in Uncategorized on December 27, 2006 by tazzy

What kinda hobby would coin collection be? You go around the world spend millions of money and what u bring back home? A coin from the other countries. Or u better know someone who travels around the world and wait for him to return so that can ask him to give a little coin but by the time he’ll return you would have forgotten to get that little piece of money from him…LOL. Sounds really weird n dumb. Just think of it COIN COLLECTION haha…really weird collecting pieces of metal which u just wanna keep so that u can show it to your grandchildren. Hilarious. And coin ‘collection’ would mean you better collect them and put all the variety of currencies in a box or somewhere. Now tell me why would somebody like to occupy a box with hardly one coin being dropped in it in say two years.

Coin collection is known as the hobby of ‘KINGS’. Since we don’t have any kings nowadays or anyone equal to KING’s status so why is this hobby still counted as a hobby. Rather coin collection could be a means of investment like you buy the coins and sell them when there value goes up but that too how much could a coin earn you. you would rather buy currency in larger denomination which would come in paper money.

I have some US coins and had a few australian, singaporian and hong kongian coins but that won’t and shouldn’t and wouldn’t be counted as coin collection. Like this fellow King Farouk of Egypt did collect coins but he had the habit of collecting everything – and then we blame the old people for hoarding hell lotta stuff in the attic.

Hope i made sense of everything. Merry X-Mas!

Complexity

Sometimes there is a combination of a number of different things that make u go back a few years in your past and recall what happened there, it can be something funny, sad, depressing or even an everyday event. These things don’t have any individual importance when viewed at a different time by the same person or the same time by a different person. There is this particular frequency which these different things – when mixed together – match with our brain and make us reflect upon a particular event from the past.

Well thats all i had to share for now. Guess this would be my first shortest blog.

NADRA and The CNIC

Posted in Uncategorized on December 19, 2006 by tazzy

Finally i turned 18 on Sunday and since i was busy on Monday i went on Tuesday for my Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) registration. I had no idea what the whole thing would look like and the whole thing turned out pretty well. I left my place at around 0945 took the bus to the NADRA Swift Registration Center (NSRC) and was there in some 5 to 10 minutes. Went to the window, told the guy there that i wanna get my CNIC made. He asked me to show the B-form and gave a receipt. I went in waited for like hardly 5 minutes and was called on the counter where i gave her my signature and made my telephone number\’s entry and also got my address confirmed. Then i was redirected to the other portion of the room where the camera man was waiting he took my snap and redirected me to another portion of the room where i gave my finger and thumb prints and went to the last person to collect the form which had already been filled.
I went to the mayor\’s office but he wasn\’t on his seat so i went to this other guy – who i later found was some minority mayor – and asked him for the mayor. He didn\’t know about the mayor but he did ask me what i need him for. When i told him i need this form attested he offered himself to attest it which i gladly did and i left the office with a kind thanks.
I went back home it was 1015 got the telephone, electricity and gas bills – which were required to be presented at the time of submitting the form. On the way back to NSRC i planned to take a lift from some motorcyclist and save my five rupees but eventually i had to opt for the bus. Anyhow, i reached the office gave in the form and got a receipt which said that my CNIC would be ready in 25 to 30 days.

Its 1 day now 24 days to go…

Ideas 2006

Posted in Uncategorized on November 18, 2006 by tazzy

Well next week we have got Ideas 2006 exhibition coming up. We see Rangers all over Karachi. From Gulshan-e-Iqbal to Metropole…they are everywhere. I am even astonished at the pace with which the area around Expo center have been all fixed and decorated. The Liaquatabad underpass (although it aint near Expo), the stadium overhead bridge both have been completed in quite some time, a sufficient time i would say. The result was, after just 3 days the Liaquatabad underpass was no longer able to be used for transportation purpose. Secondly, the Stadium overhead bridge (about which i have just heard stories) which has been completed just abruptly is from day one not in the condition to be used for a smooth drive.

All this leaves us with the Hasan Square overhead bridge. Since its a big project it has not been completed before the Ideas 2006 exhibition, just hope it comes out to be something good and long lasting.

I remeber Mr. Syed Mustafa Kamal saying that the work being done under his reign would last atleast a decade and a half but here we see that only the Abul Hasan Isphani road’s project seems long lasting since it survived the heavy rainy days. The other projects make me lose hope in the Mayor’s work. Maybe the work is inappropriate because the work was supposed to be done in less time period but that would be made transparent in the coming months.

Another conclusion comes up about the fast work in the city due to Ideas 2006 exhibition.  The area under Stadium overhead bridge was all dusty just a couple of days back. Now all the dust and sand from around the area has been collected and put behind margins with a little “khaad” and flower pots have been buried with them and some more flower pots have been buried in the island across Expo center. All this decoration work has been done really fast and shows that the government people can do something in less time, so what if the work is not upto the standard. This also makes me conclude that IF government wants it can do the present renovation work in the city at a lot faster pace but sadly in our city nothing’s done without “danda”. This whole decoration work in the city, its been done so fast only to show the President and other guests who would visit the Ideas 2006 exhibition that Karachi is being constructed and renovated and is progressing towards a mega city.

Why does everything need to be done for others and not for the people who live in the city? Why is area around Sheraton, Holiday Inn and the surrounding areas all clean and everything’s pim and almost proper? Why are the roads going to and fro the airport clean and smooth with street lights always on and we see no street lights on Shahrah-e-Faisal? As far as i can answer, the whole situation is a show off. SHow off to all those entering the city. All the foreigners who usually prefer to stay in Sheraton, PC and the neighbouring areas they find karachi clean and green. When i come back from my college, as soon as the bus moves from PIDC area to the CANTT area and beyond I feel an immense change. There is an abrupt end to the cleanliness and greenness and everythig changes as if a button has been pressed and I am transformed to a different period of my life… Why is this so?…Why can’t the whole of Karachi or atleast 1/10th part of karachi be alike…Why is only a small percentage of the city area clean with fairly good infrastructure and that too the area which is manoeuvered by foreigners?

All this shows that everything, well almost everything, being done in this city is for show off. I agree that work is being done in the city and some good work’s been done but that’s another topic with different story.

May the Ideas 2006 exhibition end well…after all this security it should end well.
