the night, memorable

My car screeched as I took the U-turn and chased the silver Prosmatic ahead. Roared my Parado’s engine as I dragged my car in the 2nd gear – my mind was preoccupied by the situation that it couldn’t send any signals to move my hand from the steering to the gear.

The Prosmatic driver was an expert in this job – I presume – and knew the streets of MACHS better than me. Since it was my first encounter, ignoring the consequences, I was confident enough to chase him, or was it a her ? Or may be my Parado gave me the confidence that I needed at that time.

A right turn. A Left. Another u-turn and an immediate left. The cold night wasn’t favoring my driving skills and the thought of using the heater almost made me lose track of the Prosmatic.

The Prosmatic slowed down. I immediately scanned for any turns or u-turns on that cold street and spotted one a little distance from the Prosmatic. Foreseeing the movement I raced and blocked the turning. I grabbed my KK and jumped off my Prado pushing my shawl around my neck and towards the back. I didn’t feel the need for the KK but one shot of my revolver at the rear tire was enough to scare the driver out of the car.

The door opened. Black boots out of the car. I ordered both hands to be shown. Right hand appeared. I loaded the KK and up came the left hand as well, a ring around the pinky. The hands were shaking. The night was dark I couldn’t yet figure out if it was a he or a she.The legs moved a little and the driver’s head appeared above the car door. Red lips on that fair face were all I could manage to see in the darkness when something hard hit me behind my head.

I opened my eyes & found myself in the hospital. I looked around the room and tried to sit at the same time but the pain pulled me back on the bed. I could here voices nearby, maybe outside the room. I recognized one out of two voices outside. It was my friend from the university, but what was he doing there. He didn’t come in to get his face matched with the voice but I m sure it was him. The voices died and silence prevailed. Someone passed by the door, I looked through the window and all my paralyzed mind could register was the red lips. That was the last thing i recognized that night till three days later when my brother came for visit.

my way or the highway

The blue alto came from my left, squeezed itself from between my car and the black taxi  infront of me on my left and back in front of me and disappeared in what seemed like a few speechless-mouth-wide-opened-eyes-bulging-out seconds.  All this happened on the bridge. Someone overtakes me on the bridge and that too on the turning on the bridge!

The next day i.e. today, there was this white saloon it appeared from the street on the extreme left of shahrah-e-faisal and made its way from the extreme left lane towards the fast lane and back to extreme left making a kind of semi-circle.

And then we have honks before the signal even gets yellow from red and during traffic jams. We also see decently dressed people at their indecent-est. Well these are the norms of karachi streets whose details i won’t like to deal with at the moment.

They say,”to judge a person you should invite him/her for dinner.” and I say you should go on a drive with him/her ;)

People are literally insane. Or may be they get the insane curse once they touch the steering wheel. Infact, its the car manufacturers! They cast a hopus-focus on the steering wheel before floating their cars in the market. Apparently, this is the only explanation to the haphazardness caused on the streets n roads.

Did i make any sense because i m really sleepy n going to bed after pressing the ‘publish’ button.

I know its a poor quality video

Well today was a long day after so many short days.

Early in the morning after the gym,my friend called and wanted me to come with him – he was going for his ACCA docket thingy and then he wanted to go to our school and meet some teachers.  Well thats how i got a chance to make this video.

it starts from the karsaz overhead bridge and goes to the EOBI house (formerly Awami Markaz). This whole area had been traffic jammed. We were midway the karsaz bridge (joining shahrah-e-faisal) and my friend dropped the cars speed.Since i was with my cellphone i inquired abt the car and simultaneously i put my head up and LO! n behold! half of the bridge is traffic jammed.

The traffic jam continued and we both were of the opinion that the traffic jam is due to an accident and thats when i pulled out my cellphone camera and started making the video hoping that i would catch a heated up situation in moments. But everything seemed to be fine and as soon as we crossed the EOBI house (formerly Awami Markaz)  area the traffic was all of sudden in smooth flow : |….

…it was the traffic signal. The traffic police was controlling the traffic at the signal near Crown plaza.

so y can’t we have traffic signals up and running 24hrs a day. why do the police has to interfere? and if its the load shedding issue den at this time the electricity not down, there must have a fault in the signal. and secondly y can’t the traffic signals and street lights be granted exclusion from load shedding?

at the end of the day we have Bono

And if the night runs over
And if the day won’t last
And if your way should falter
Along the stony pass
It’s just a moment
This time will pass

P.S: wasn’t the weather really pleasant in the morning!?

…to spend or not to spend

“I want the pencil box I was looking at in the shop!” I cried on top of my lungs. There was nothing dearer to me at that moment in time than that pencil box and I was willing to do anything to get it. But before I could reach the point to do “anything” for it, my parents had bought it for me.

Eight years later…

I was sitting in the lounge with my face down, tears dripping down my eyes, I wanted that Discman and this time again I was willing to do anything to possess it. A week later it was in my hands and this time again I didn’t had to do “anything” for it.

About a year later...I had become a little thoughtful

“Should I? or should I not?” were the questions jumping in my head making my nights restless. I just loved that wristwatch I saw in the store and I had enough of eidi to help me buy it. Finally I decided to go buy the watch.

Another year passed

This time I had the cap in my head to wear it on my head. I did some research on different types of caps and a few weeks later I bought one from Tariq Road with my savings + eidi.

A few months later I got myself an mp3 player after deciding between whether I should or shouldn’t.

Going back to the pencil box, I remember at that time I at least 3 more pencil boxes all in perfect condition, yet I wanted that particular one.

The Discman, I used it barely 10 times – since i watch movies on my computer and listen to songs on computer or the car cd player – and now its somewhere in the cupboards coated with a zillion layers of dust.

The wristwatch. As far as I remember it was a good watch and I used to alot until it slipped from my hands and being a “made in china” make it stopped working and the repairing cost could have bought me a new watch.

Now comes the CAP! I never actually wore it :s  and the mp3 player, I used it for the sake of using it, not because I felt the need to use it but I actually took out some time to use the 1000 rupee mp3 player.

Conclusion…I simply wasted so much money!

All things I bought were nothing but the result of stupidity which leads to the conclusion that i should think whether i actually want to 1) buy this thing and 2) spend on this thing.

I think alot before spending and still end up spending on useless stuff. But over the years I have become good at it and now I barely spend which is a problem itself, since not-spending leads to a lot of money in my wallet which forces me to think about spending it :S and at the same time assures me that I can buy anything whenever I feel like :D

Not that I have a lagao/attachment with money but what if I keep on saving my whole bachelor-life and then my wife drops in and spends all of it :p

I advise the readers to start looking on to their spendings, m sure there are others like me out there.

Tired of doing nothing for the last 2-3 months I had started browsing through various websites of my interest and not of my interest and in the course i found the karachi city’s website. As usual the first thought that occured was that the website has been uploaded and is rarely updated: guess i was wrong.

I browsed through the website, visited various towns’ dedicated websites and then one day i discovered this complaint center thing there. I immediately logged a complaint against the unclean road right outside my house. Later on i forgot about it and on the third day i had a city government fellow on my doorstep with a print out of my complaint. I was taken aback with quick response in contrast to my idea of the website been left unattended. Anyhow, i explained the complaint and the guy told me that evrything would be taken care of on the next working day.

Now is this improvement in the system or is this improvement in the system?

Oh n before i end my post lemme mention that nothing is taken care of. Maybe thats because the complaint center guy asked me to sign the print-out he had, i should have told him that i will sign it when the work is done. Anyway, atleast they did show up.

Benazir n Karachi

19_10_2007_001_002_012.jpgSince after the 12th MAY incident Karachi has been pretty peaceful. But now we have Benazir in the city and the revival of PPP. 18th October Benazir lands in karachi and wht she brings with her is 100+ deaths and 400+ injuries and just a few minutes back we had PPP people on their motorcycles terrorising the shopkeepers to shut their shops. Agreed that its supposed to be 3 day grief but isn’t it a job of the government to take care of this?

What have we got in store is yet to be unveiled

Her blond hair was caught in the moonlight, her racing silhouette given substance by the beam of powerful flashlight fifty yards behind her. She fell; the gap closed and a staccato burst of gunfire abruptly, insolently split the night air, bullets exploding the sand and the wild grass all around her. She would be dead in a matter or seconds.

Coin Collection

Posted in Uncategorized on December 27, 2006 by tazzy

What kinda hobby would coin collection be? You go around the world spend millions of money and what u bring back home? A coin from the other countries. Or u better know someone who travels around the world and wait for him to return so that can ask him to give a little coin but by the time he’ll return you would have forgotten to get that little piece of money from him…LOL. Sounds really weird n dumb. Just think of it COIN COLLECTION haha…really weird collecting pieces of metal which u just wanna keep so that u can show it to your grandchildren. Hilarious. And coin ‘collection’ would mean you better collect them and put all the variety of currencies in a box or somewhere. Now tell me why would somebody like to occupy a box with hardly one coin being dropped in it in say two years.

Coin collection is known as the hobby of ‘KINGS’. Since we don’t have any kings nowadays or anyone equal to KING’s status so why is this hobby still counted as a hobby. Rather coin collection could be a means of investment like you buy the coins and sell them when there value goes up but that too how much could a coin earn you. you would rather buy currency in larger denomination which would come in paper money.

I have some US coins and had a few australian, singaporian and hong kongian coins but that won’t and shouldn’t and wouldn’t be counted as coin collection. Like this fellow King Farouk of Egypt did collect coins but he had the habit of collecting everything – and then we blame the old people for hoarding hell lotta stuff in the attic.

Hope i made sense of everything. Merry X-Mas!

Sometimes there is a combination of a number of different things that make u go back a few years in your past and recall what happened there, it can be something funny, sad, depressing or even an everyday event. These things don’t have any individual importance when viewed at a different time by the same person or the same time by a different person. There is this particular frequency which these different things – when mixed together – match with our brain and make us reflect upon a particular event from the past.

Well thats all i had to share for now. Guess this would be my first shortest blog.

NADRA and The CNIC

Posted in Uncategorized on December 19, 2006 by tazzy

Finally i turned 18 on Sunday and since i was busy on Monday i went on Tuesday for my Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) registration. I had no idea what the whole thing would look like and the whole thing turned out pretty well. I left my place at around 0945 took the bus to the NADRA Swift Registration Center (NSRC) and was there in some 5 to 10 minutes. Went to the window, told the guy there that i wanna get my CNIC made. He asked me to show the B-form and gave a receipt. I went in waited for like hardly 5 minutes and was called on the counter where i gave her my signature and made my telephone number\’s entry and also got my address confirmed. Then i was redirected to the other portion of the room where the camera man was waiting he took my snap and redirected me to another portion of the room where i gave my finger and thumb prints and went to the last person to collect the form which had already been filled.
I went to the mayor\’s office but he wasn\’t on his seat so i went to this other guy – who i later found was some minority mayor – and asked him for the mayor. He didn\’t know about the mayor but he did ask me what i need him for. When i told him i need this form attested he offered himself to attest it which i gladly did and i left the office with a kind thanks.
I went back home it was 1015 got the telephone, electricity and gas bills – which were required to be presented at the time of submitting the form. On the way back to NSRC i planned to take a lift from some motorcyclist and save my five rupees but eventually i had to opt for the bus. Anyhow, i reached the office gave in the form and got a receipt which said that my CNIC would be ready in 25 to 30 days.

Its 1 day now 24 days to go…
